We were excited to announce in January that Australia had been confirmed as the hosts of the 2021 Organization Development Conference.
You may recall being invited to complete a survey earlier this year, in preparation for the international OD Conference planned to be held in Australia in 2021. More than 30 members of the OD community around the region completed the survey. The suggestions received for themes, topics and content were both diverse and exciting. 2020 has created the need to defer international events, and as a consequence, Australia will now host the International OD community in 2022 – a year later than originally planned.
Organising committee member, Greg Collier, said “the events of 2020 will call on the international OD community to think about the role we all play in shaping the future of work. Organisations and leaders require new thinking and approaches as the planet responds to a still-emerging challenge. Hosting the international OD community here in Australia in 2022 will be even more important from a timing perspective than we’d imagined. The approaches we imagine and co-create over the next few years will influence the way organisations develop for generations to come. Hosting the International OD community in Australia in 2022 is very important from a timing perspective.”
Greg added, “Planning for 2022 is underway and we would love for more people to get involved. The evolving organizing committee will be meeting monthly via Zoom for the rest of this year. Next steps include locking in a date, confirming a location/venue, and reviewing the suggestions received for content and themes. Given these uncertain times, we will keep the survey open so that people can continue to contribute their ideas and volunteer. We plan to host a regional OD event in some form during 2020, where we will gather more ideas on emerging OD challenges and ideas.”
