"Being here...bringing organisations to life. A Gestalt experience."
Join us for an end of winter treat as Sam Luxemburg and John Batros take us through an Gestalt experience to help us understand being in the present and what that means for our work and personal lives.
As part of our 2008 theme of "Perspectives , Practices and Possibilities" this engaging session will explore a practice, provide a different perspective for many, and open up new possibilities for your OD practice.
But above all it will be a fun and informative evening with colleagues and like-minded practitioners.

About Our Guest Presenters
John Batros and Sam Luxemburg
Sam Luxemburg and John Batros were both trained as Gestalt Practitioners in the Gestalt Institute of Melbourne. Sam is a psychologist and counselor and John is a teacher, facilitator and OD consultant. The work of both is strongly informed by the Gestalt Approach.
They are part of the leadership team of the Gestalt for Organisations Group [GOG] which meets monthly at Swinburne.
At the August ODA meeting, they will introduce the foundations of the Gestalt Approach. Awareness, field theory, contactful communications and using the paradoxical theory of change. Implications and applications for OD consultants will be outlined.
‘Gestalt' is a German word that is difficult to translate. It means a ‘whole', a pattern or a configuration. Deriving from psychoanalysis, Gestalt theory also draws upon European existentialist philosophy and Buddhism. The former emphasizes becoming aware of ‘what is'; the latter, ‘here and now' experience and ‘both/and' thinking.
The evening will be a balance of experiential learning and brief theoretical inputs.
Gestalt can be fun!
Sam and John look forward to working with you.
