What is the future of OD in Australia?

The first event of ODA for 2012 may not answer this question for you but it will cover some of the big ticket items facing OD in 2012 and beyond, some of these are:

  • The Federal Government’s “Workplaces of the Future” forums that have been in the press over the concerns of dropping Australian productivity levels.
  • There is currently no Australian university with an OD qualification. Over the last few years OD is seen as a component of HR or adult education. So called OD departments in many organisations are only concerned with collecting data, the behavioural metrics of which many are of dubious reliability and any concept of the human systems is lost.
  • AHRI have restored their Organisation Design and Development Network.

Join us in conversation with Peter Aughton about the future of OD in Australia and find out what is happening on various fronts that affect the future of OD in Australia:

  • How will this affect the work that you do?
  • How is the organisational context being (mis)shaped by the lack of understanding of OD?
  • How can the “Workplaces of the Future” Forum take an OD approach?

February Guest Speaker
 Peter_Aughton
Peter Aughton is Managing Director of Amerin Pty Ltd and founding member of the Sustainable Future Planning & Design program.
Amerin is a social systems science research and consulting group offering holistic planning and organisational design solutions for a sustainable future. Peter has worked with managers and employees from the private and public sectors to plan and design sustainable organisations that significantly increase employee engagement, innovation and organisational performance.

Also hear about the ODA agenda for 2012 in taking action to strengthen OD in Australia. This will include events on:

  • “Women in leadership roles” and “Women in non-traditional roles” – the role of OD.
  • Tools, research and strategies on “strengths-based leadership’ with guest Dr Peter Brewerton from the UK.
  • Latest research on Neuroscience and implications for leadership with guest Linda Ray.

Wanting an inspirational start to 2012?

In a once off opportunity ODA is thrilled to offer an exciting workshop with Cyriel Kortleven. If you were lucky enough to be at the 2011 International Organisation Development Conference in Melbourne last September you will remember how Cyriel managed to bring energy into a room and get the conference kick-started each day. Cyriel is returning to Australia in March and ODA wants to take advantage of his visit to provide an exceptional learning opportunity for its members and guests.

ODA is offering this workshop at a special price to encourage as many people as possible to “share the joy” of enhancing:

  • Creative skills
  • Thinking patterns
  • Brainstorming technique
  • Energising groups and maximising learning through increased participation

The Morning session will concentrate on Creative Skills and Thinking Patterns, the Afternoon session will work on brainstorming skills. The whole day is highly interactive providing opportunity to practise and develop new techniques.

Check out Cyriel in action to see what you will
be missing out on if you don’t register today!

Cyriel's back story, the brief version
Cyriel Kortleven is a crew member and co-founder of 'new shoes today' – a growing group of like-minded professionals who stimulate and support people and organisations on their path to creativity, innovation and change.

Cyriel is a creative centipede who wants to get people moving by making them more aware of the chances in their lives. Cyriel is a much sought-after speaker on the subject of creativity and innovation. He gives workshops and lectures on creative skills and attitudes as well as how to break down set thinking patterns. Cyriel literally and figuratively gets people moving through a combination of creativity and improvisational theatre - as described in the successful book 'And ... Action!' of which he is the co-author.

In addition to stimulating innovative ideas, Cyriel focuses his attention on a factor which is at least as important i.e. how to make ideas stick. Moreover, Cyriel is also on a never-ending journey of discovery to find new ways to integrate how people experience time into a society ruled by the clock.

Through his playful and enthusiastic attitude to life, he creates an open and informal atmosphere, ideal for when he carries out the combination role of day chair/speaker at bigger events and conferences. To stimulate people's awareness of how they experience time and the power of creativity even more, Cyriel has also co-founded two troupes 'De Ridders van NU' and 'Operation Brainstorm'.

So as you can see ... interactive, inspiring, passionate, creative, this is Cyriel Kortleven. Expressive through and through.
